As a golfing enthusiast, you're undoubtedly continuously searching for any and all training enhancements to improve your game.
Golf swing problems may result in 'hooks' and 'slices' that can and have thrown many a game for a loop.
Contrary to popular belief, improving your golf swing doesn't need to be difficult or even all that time-consuming. In fact, simply making slight adjustments to your stance and grip, can and will quickly improve your golf swing. A few applied techniques will get you where you want to be much more quickly than previously thought..
Improving your approach will be required if you're having any of the following problems:
- Repeatedly hitting behind the ball
- A repetitive hook or slice
- Frequent hits on top of the ball
If you have any of these problems, changing your approach will be beneficial. You might notice that the stance/grip/posture you're now using is the cause of the problem. A usual over-compensation for one of the previous errors will also result in a skewed golf swing approach.
None of these problems are by no means insurmountable. Shortly after you develop and implement the proper setup and approach your golf swing will improve exponentially. It takes a bit of patience and persistence but it is not at all impossible.
Here are some golf basics to improve your game now;
- Make sure your feet shoulder length apart, thus improving your balance. Balance is critical to the success of all golfers. You may need a small adjustment if wind conditions are less than optimal and push against you. A slight widening of the feet will suffice.
- Your left foot should always remain pointed straight in front of you. Beginning golfers have a tendency to point their left foot to the left, resulting in golf swing miscues.
- The ball should always be positioned in the center of your feet.
- The knees should feel firm and steady, slightly bent, but not locked. A good tip is to relax your knees by gently bouncing them to make sure that they are steady, but flexible.
- A straight back will result in a straightened golf swing. This is an often overlooked aspect of the basic golf swing approach when out on the course. Back positioning will also minimize any potential back ailments/injuries.
- Arm extension should be at full stretch, ensuring that the club is directly in front of you. Then lower the head of the club while keeping it parallel to the ground.
- Bending at the hips to allow for the head of the club to meet the ground. Bear in mind, this is usually the only time that is practical and proper to use your hips. Most golfing professionals find it useful to practice the action of lowering your club in a deliberate and slow motion, so that they remain aware of their movements.
- This approach is only one part of the golf swing. Though with practice, if applied regularly it can improve your game dramatically. Always be cognizant of these rules and they will quickly become second-nature.
See you on the course!
